11 – 11:30 am The Body Fix System: Experience the most
accurate and comprehensive patient immobilization and
positioning available. Reporters and journalists have the
opportunity to be molded into a custom shaped shell that
keeps them in a fixed, rigid position. Cancer patients undergo
the same positioning technique in preparation for Novalis
Tx treatments — a state-of-the-art technology that delivers
radiation in laser beam precision, cutting down on treatment
time by weeks.
State-of-the-art cancer fighting technology: Novalis Tx™
is a revolutionary cancer treatment that uses the latest in
radiation technology specialized to treat the central nervous
system. Novalis Tx works by rotating a powerful linear
accelerator – a machine that produces radiation, around the
patient. Images of the tumors are taken to pinpoint its exact
position, location and size before treatment begins. There are
less than 100 of this technology in the entire world, and the
new Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center is proud to
provide the community with this new treatment option.
