One year ago I posted, "10 Social Media Best Practices in Higher Education" which has proven to be one of my most popular posts. This is not surprising, as many of my campus speaking engagements include covering such topics.
This top 10 list includes:
Implement a Social Media Strategy
Produce Quality & Accurate Content
Manage Platforms with Social Media Managers and Student Leaders
Use an Authentic and Transparent Voice
Represent the University/Division/Department Brand and University Resources
Collaborate and Support other University Social Media Pages
Respect Your Community
Dive into Data
Empower Influencers and Engage Audience
Get Internal Buy-In
Social media exists in the gray, so even these best practices could be scrutinized. Whatever your perspective, higher education needs more tools to aid in strategy development, especially since social media platforms change constantly.
Play the ponies: People, puppies & mascots for the Social Media win at #WesternUMelissa Cheater
How do we get from #offtowesternu and the first day of school, to #purpleandproud families three generations deep? Three parts story-telling, season liberally with video loops - and ask your audience to say "when". You’ll need a kitchen built for teamwork, and the right tools will make your job a lot easier.
Western’s community-first approach to social media brings together more than 100 staff and faculty through meet-ups, “bootcamp” and ambassador training plus a campus-wide Hootsuite implementation.
Get a Head Start at PODi AppForum with 2 Real-Life Case Studiescamillemarti
In this webinar, Joe Manos, VP at MindFireInc, shares 2 higher education cases studies for PODi AppForum registrants to get a head start on learning how to grow their marketing services business before the show.
In this slide deck, you'll learn how:
1. University of Alabama created personalized digital and print viewbooks for their graduate student search program using marketing technology
2. Saint Francis University ran a year-long program using direct mail, email, social media, and web to increase alumni engagement and donations
Presentation given for the National College Learning Center Association
In these unprecedented times, the face of higher education is rapidly changing, and our learning centers must adapt to find ways to help our students (the privileged and underprivileged) engage effectively with technology. The realities of how we support students and the services we offer them must adapt to the current shifts to online learning in their content courses. We must expand upon existing online services and/or develop new ones. We must also support/train our staff members to manage the new ways in which our learning centers must operate.
Learning centers professionals are going to have to think of ways to deliver services 100% online. We need to think about our staff (students and professionals) and how we train them as well as the ways in which we engage our students who might be struggling with the demands of shifting to new modes of learning. Join this evolving conversation in one or both webinars:
Part 1 - Identifying Immediate Needs - this week (3/20/2020)
How we can triage and respond in real time to a rapidly evolving change to our operations?
Part 2 - Planning for the Long-term - next week (3/27/2020)
How do we reflect, assess, resource for sustainability, and plan for future change?
