scientist, inventor and
French photographer
who was born in 1765
and died in 1833. He
was the inventor, along
with his brother, of a
motor boat and, with
Daguerre, photography.

light through a pinhole,
creating an image. By the
15th century, quality glass
lenses could be used to
focus these images, and by
the 19th century chemicals
such as silver nitrate
allowed a permanent
image to be preserved,

science of photography.
