SESSION 2019-20
What is Checkpoint?
Cambridge Checkpoint tests are designed
for use in the final year of each of the
following levels of education:
 Primary (class 5)
 Secondary (class 8)
 Ordinary (class 11)
 Advanced levels
Primary Checkpoint is not a PASS/FAIL Test!!
The results give schools an international benchmark of
learner performance to identify and address learning
needs (diagnostic) in English, Mathematics and
Science.
The tests are externally marked by Cambridge
Cambridge Primary......

in English, Mathematics and
Science
 sets clear learning objectives,

Cambridge learners
Cambridge supports schools to develop learners who are:

responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn
innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference
 Checkpoint in Year 5 is designed to be a
diagnostic test for 10 – 11 years olds.
 It is not a test of 1 year’s knowledge but
of all previous years’ teaching.
 Although it is a diagnostic test of a
students learning, it would be unfair to
expect students to be exposed to these
tests without some preparation.
Salient Features of the programme
 Students will be registered for the Primary Checkpoint -2020
on the basis of diagnostic test which will be held in
December’19.
 The Checkpoint tests will be held in April 2020.
 Before that practice test sessions will start in early 2020.
 Along with these tests the regular assessments of the
students will also be conducted.
 Some or all parts of a practice tests may be counted as an
internal assessment.
Why Practice Papers are Important?
 This practice will be covering the entire syllabus.
 It will help develop time management skills and
focal span.
 The corrections of these tests is equally
important.
 It is strongly advised that students should go
through these tests at home too, for better
reinforcement.
What is Important for students?
 Set Short-Term and Long-Term Goals
 Master Time Management
 Always do your homework & assignments in time
 Use Test-Taking Strategies
