This document provides specifications for A-M series copper tube crimping lugs for connecting copper conductors. It includes:
- Dimensions and mechanical properties of the copper tube used to manufacture the lugs to provide efficient conductivity and strength.
- Details of an annealing process used to guarantee optimum ductility and avoid cracking or breaks when the lugs are compressed or bent during installation or subjected to vibration.
- A table listing over 60 individual lug models ranging from 0.25-240 mm2 in conductor size, with corresponding dimensions, recommended crimping tools, and packaging quantities.
Cable Lugs and Terminals are electrical connectors used for connecting or terminating electrical cables to electrical appliances, transformers, junction boxes, control panels, etc. Connectors are also used for joining two power cables together. A lug has two ends, a tubular end through which cable is inserted and a flattened end which is bolted to the appliance or surface. After cable insertion, the lug can be crimped with a crimping tool or soldered or welded. Lugs come in different sizes corresponding to cable size and sizes are marked on the palm area of the lug. Suitable tool and die set is used to crimp them to cable or wire. The terminal ends are usually made of copper or aluminium and comes in different sizes and current carrying capacities. Proper care has to be taken and selection done according to low voltage or medium voltage requirements.

Cembre cable lugs are short circuit tested and approved to BS4579-3 : 1976 Specification for performance of mechanical and compression joints in electric cable and wire connectors. BS4579 published in August 1976 was replaced by BS EN 61238 - 1 : 2003

Premium cable ties with steel locking barb
Characteristics
The single most distinguishing feature of the Ty-Rap
®
cable ties
from Thomas & Betts is the stainless steel locking barb, firmly
anchored inside the tie head (Fig. 1).
It is made from corrosion-proof, antimagnetic steel (Marine
Grade Type 316).
This guarantees a strong and durable locking of the tie even
under the most adverse conditions - humidity, heat, cold, etc.
and is also proof against vibration and external shock.
When applying ties with Thomas & Betts tooling, the excess
end of the tie is automatically cut off and the slight over cut
retracts into the tie, so that there is no risk of injury from
protruding sharp edges. (Fig. 3)
The low-profile design of the head allows secure tying in tight
spaces.
The edges of the head are also rounded off to offer maximum
protection from injury.
The transition from the strap to the head is gradual. This
protects the material against breaking at this most critical
point.
