10. Analyze Benefits and Opportunities  1. Ensures that all users have the opportunity to access and use CIC in the educational curriculum. Makes implementation of some units more user friendly and interactive.  2. Can accomplish project goals and objectives within a lower budget and time frame then most other major projects.  3. Services and programming are constantly changing and updated, so service will not be outdated as quickly as others. This service can maintain up to the minute news and reports as they are happening before the students eyes.  4. A good portion of equipment is already in the building; keeping cost down.  5. An ongoing professional development program will enable teachers, administrators, and support staff to effectively integrate technology into instruction.(copyright will be covered in this training).

11. Action Plan Projected timeline Summer 2010 –Board approval Librarian proposes to board. Summer 2010-Time Warner Connectivity to CSMS. Time Warner and maintenance dept. responsible By Nov. 2010-All new equipment purchased, processed and delivered to classrooms. Custodial staff, head of technology, librarian, and support staff responsible for purchasing and processing equipment. Training and usage workshops scheduled throughout year depending on schedules. Administrator and librarian schedule training workshops for staff based on school schedules. By Feb. 2011-All new cable drops wired throughout building to individual classrooms. Maintenance and custodial staff responsible. By April 2011- Cable in the Classroom is up and running and ready for trials throughout building. Librarian, teachers, and administrators implement trials throughout building. By July 2011- New curriculum integrates CIC into lesson plans, staff notified. Administrator, teachers, librarian. Sept. 2011- CIC is integrated into CSMS classrooms as an educational tool.  All staff through out CSMS responsible.

12. Risks * School board does not approve proposal. * Current economy “Gov. Patterson plans on cutting overall funding to nine New York public stations by 50% in 2009/2010” (CNY Connected, pg.6). This could affect everything that has to do with this plan, if Cable in the Classroom loses some of its stations that provide services for free. * Lack of funding, School districts are expecting huge cuts for programs. * School budgets can’t maintain equipment anymore. *Lack of commitment-CSMS’s staff does not have commitment needed to carry through with program use and upkeep. Participation is not mandatory, but voluntary.

13. Limitations of Proposal *Connectivity - School district may be too rural for some programming to reach. *Teachers may not welcome this project into their workday. *Will technology be outdated too soon?

14. Marketing Plan Marketing Needs/Gap. -Offering a CIC open house at a suitable time for all the staff to attend. -Trying to capture the interest of entire school faculty. -Obtaining administrative support, not only in the implementation of the CIC service into the school, but to help advocate to the Superintendent and Board of Education for funding and follow up services. -Produce a survey for feedback that is reliable and helpful to continuing the CIC program for years to come.

15. Marketing Goals and Outcomes Goal: Annual CIC open house. Outcomes: -Introduce CIC to CSMS staff. -Increase awareness of CIC and its benefits of usage with curriculum. -The Library will develop and produce an annual CIC event. -To attract at least 90% of staff, and all 3 administrators.

16. Message Delivery Strategies The key message for teachers will be in the form of video examples, Cable in the Classroom presentations and written information in the form of program guides, brochures and fliers. There will be follow up e-mails to the target population and a survey to get an indication of how teachers are feeling about the new service

17. Timetable As the project plan is slated to begin in the summer of 2010, then the plan to introduce CIC to teachers would coincide to begin in the fall of 2010. Open house will be the “kick- off” promotion and on going follow-up and training will be provided throughout the year .

18. Assessment The first two goals of this plan are to be evaluated and reviewed prior to the implementation of the actual service. In order for the rest of service to be evaluated, this contract and set up have to be effectively in place and complete. There would be a need to gather information on the usage and eventually, the effectiveness of using this service. There can be observations by administrators. Teachers can give feedback in the form of surveys and discussions. Students can give feedback through surveys and discussions. Data could be collected on student knowledge gained from programming. Data could be collected on programming being used and how often .
