Harford County schools are moving towards implementing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs, where students can use their own technology devices like cell phones and tablets in class. The county superintendent announced in September that all schools will have Wi-Fi connections and a BYOD plan. Pilot schools like Edgewood High have found success with BYOD. Research shows BYOD programs in school districts have increased nationally, and teens are highly connected, with 95% using the internet regularly and 80% using social media on cell phones.
