Group. I have had the pleasure of working with Bill when he joined the Regional Sales and Leasing Group
in May. While it was a lateral move into my group, Bill was selected because it was recognized that he
has a great deal of potential to advance not only within the Properties Group but within CSX as a whole
and that greater exposure to the various aspects of the Properties Group and CSX in general would assist
him to this end.
Bill came to CSX with a great deal of engineering and business acumen and we have been exposing him
to as much of the railroad operations as the real estate group can. I can think of no better way to
continue this process in his development than for him to participate in the Associate Development
Program. I suggested that he apply to this terrific program and wholeheartedly support his application
and participation. I have recommended several other successful candidates to this program in the past
and fully appreciate the exposure to the company and the disciplined thinking that the program
encourages and the commitment that it takes
While I consider Bill to be in the learning mode in his new job as Sales Associate, he has quickly
demonstrated a good sense of real estate understanding and a thoughtful and balanced approached to
the challenges and opportunities that his job provides. In everything he undertakes, Bill is energetic in
his approach and diligent to see the challenge to the end. He has good communication skills and
represents the company in a professional and customer-focused manner. He is a self-starter and is
constantly looking for better ways to improve processes and advance the business.
CSX is in a unique business and real estate usually only touches small parts of it. As a participant in the
program, Bill would not only be able to network with others across the company and learn what they
do, he will also gather a greater understanding of the goals and objectives of other departments and this
would not only broaden his knowledge of the business, but it would also help him function in his current
and future positions in real estate and enable him to provide a better service to the company.
