2. Town of Byala
Byala is a town along
the river Yantra in
Rousse District. It is
administrative and
business center on
Municipality of Byala.
3. Name of the town
Name of Byala is connected with white color
of the nearby rocks. Settlers have called the
village Byala(in Bulgarian White land) on the
color of the hills around the river. As a result
for short speak the name today is only Byala.
4. The first village
The first village has built on 6-7 km south of
the town today and has been called Deserted
Byala. Then habitants have moved on a new
place (New Byala), where it is the city now.

The village was mentioned for the first time
during Ottoman rule in Turkish register in
1544 – 1545. It is described habitants of
Byala – 19 households. During 1831 – 1837
there was a plague here.
