In the Gospel of John, we are told that Andrew met Jesus, with that burning zeal went and found his brother Simon Peter and brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John, but you shall be called Cephas". What did Jesus saw in Peter? What does Jesus sees in you today? How does one keep the flame alive? In what ways do I share or give testimony of the love of Jesus to others? As leaders, we are to seek Him, receive Him, know Him, love Him, serve Him and be like Him, you know….. it’s all about Jesus.

In evangelism, not only is what we teach important but also the way we live. People spot hypocrisy a mile away and to be effective we must not only talk the talk but walk the walk. These lessons of 3 things we need to stop saying , 3 things we need to stop doing and 3 things that Christ didn't die for and while we certainly aren't limited to these 9 things, it seemed like a good place to begin.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Busy not Hurried - 8 December 2019 - Bruce McCallum
1.
2. HURRY SICKNESS
“a continuous struggle to accomplish
more things and participate in more
events in less time, frequently in the
face of opposition, real or imagined,
from other people.“
3. “Dallas pointed out to me once that there is a
world of difference between being busy and
being hurried. Being busy is an outward
condition, a condition of the body. It occurs
when we have many things to do. Busyness is
inevitable in modern culture. If you are alive
today in North America, you are a busy
person. . . . Being hurried is an inner
condition, a condition of the soul.
4. It means to be so preoccupied with myself
and my life that I am unable to be fully
present with God, with myself, and with other
people. I am unable to occupy the present
moment. Busyness migrates to hurry when we
let it squeeze God out of our lives. . . . I cannot
live in the kingdom of God with a hurried
soul. I cannot rest in God with a hurried soul.”
5. How do you know if you suffer
from hurry sickness? (J.Ortberg)
Speeding up
SIGH a lot
Nod more often to encourage the person to accelerate
You chafe when you have to wait
Clutter
Sunset fatigue
Love impaired
6. “For many of us the great danger is not
that we will renounce our faith. It is that
we will become so distracted and rushed
and preoccupied that we will settle for a
mediocre version of it. We will just skim
our lives instead of actually living them.”
John Ortberg
7. WHY DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS
NOW?
1. Hurry prevents us from knowing God
2. Hurry decreases our compassion and empathy
3. Hurry increases anxiety, depression, and
addiction
4. Hurry destroys meaningful relationships
5. Hurry leads to a superficial existence
