This document outlines a disaster recovery and business continuity plan for three companies where the author served as project manager. It describes 5 key issues that are typically addressed in such plans: 1) initiating and managing the project, 2) conducting risk management and reporting, 3) performing a business impact analysis, 4) analyzing the impact on key areas, and 5) developing and reporting on continuity strategies. The plan involved assessing infrastructure, hardware, software, facilities and more to develop alternative work sites and strategies to resume operations in the event of a disruption.

The following is the outline for the Disaster Recovery Programme/Business Continuity
Programme, which I had done during my tenure as Project Manager :
Issues that normally that are undertaken in DRP/BCP in different Industries are as follows:
1) Project Initiation and Management Of the Project
Define the scope and objectives
Ascertain the inventory and IT/Hardware/Wireless Communication/Documentation etc
Form a Recovery Team or Committee and define their roles and responsibilities
Workout a Project Methodology to achieve the goal
Interview the Different Profit Centre Managers and Relevant Staff and workout the workflow
2) Risk Management and Report
Do a walk thru at the CISCO CSM/Site Premises
Identify all the possible recovery location within these offices
Identify all the possible risks to the Organization Facilities and Systems etc
Identify all the Stat Boards, Govt Agencies, Clients, Distribution Channels and Partners
Workout the different Risk Reduction Alternatives and Procedures
3)Business Impact Analysis
Workout a questionnaire to be distributed to the different Profit Centre
Workout with them the Minimum Operating Requirements (MOR)
Workout with them the Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
Workout the Different Resources Required by the department or area
List the Different items requiring off-site storage and retrieval capacity
4)Analyze and Define the impact on the following areas:

Telecommunications
Hardware in Operation
Software Bought and Software on the Systems
Infra-Structure(including network and others)
Manual Records and vital files containing correspondence
Determine Recovery Priorities and workout how to gauge %recovery
