  1. Definition: Communication is a process of transferring information from one entity to another. Communication processes are sign-mediated interactions between at least two agents which share a repertoire of signs and semiotic rules Must involve 2 or more parties Transfer of information Involves some action the party receiving the information
  2. Business communication can be both formal or informal and internal or external. As you can see from this chart, many of the same tools can be used in any of these four situations.
  3. In the formal communication network – defined by the relationships between the various job positions in the organization – message flow upwards, downwards and horizontally.
