Bushfires are fires that burn grass, bush or woodland and threaten life and property, while floods are when land is suddenly submerged by water. Both can be caused naturally, such as through lightning strikes, rain, dam overflows or melting snow, but are also sometimes the result of human activities like burning off, road accidents, arson or broken bottles that start fires, or strong winds that cause rivers to overflow.
