Jisc is building out its Janet access infrastructure to reduce costs, improve technical coherence and reliability, and meet user requirements. The first regions to transition are South and South West. Jisc has procurement agreements in place for fibre connections through a dynamic purchasing system and Ciena networking equipment. Regional networks will be upgraded starting in early 2019, with connections to member sites provided through new fibre builds or Openreach products. Members will receive new connection agreements and need to complete forms and arrange access for installation work.

9. Practical Implications
» As with any other network refresh you will receive a brand new connection – details of
which will be outlined in a new Declaration Letter (Connection Agreement) which will
be sent out to you
» You will need to follow the instructions on this Declaration Letter and you may have to
sign and return this letter to us (if there are charges applicable to you)
» Accompanying this letter will be an information sheet which will outline the service
parameters
» You will have to complete JCUR forms (online) to allow us to build workflows and
records on our database
» If any circumstances have changed (i.e. personnel or B-end address changes) now is
the time to let us know
» You will be contacted by the supplier to arrange access for surveys and latterly access
to undertake physical installation work of fibre etc. and installation of an NTE
