Susan Toalson from the University of Illinois Employees Credit Union presented on how business development fits into an organization and strategies for building internal support. She outlined a 7 step process for building strategic bridges within an organization that includes understanding strategic goals, identifying influencers, thinking win-win, being a doer, learning persuasive communication, leveraging oneself, and sharing top ideas for implementation upon return. Attendees were asked to find someone new, share their top three ideas, switch partners, and repeat to brainstorm applications of the strategies.
