5 Paradigms And Kingdom Business For Alict August 2009Dion Forster
As society changes it is necessary to change the way in which we do ministry. The Church dominated model, where ministry is done almost exclusively in and through congregations, needs to be strengthened and further developed by empowering Christians to do ministry in their places of work and study! We spend most of our waking hours at work, or at school, or in our community and home. Furthermore, if we are honest, the majority of Churches do not equip and facilitate ministry beyond the interests of their congregational needs.
This presentation was prepared for a group of international students on the African Leadership in Community Transformation school in Cape Town. I prepared it based on my experience as a minister in the marketplace. I serve as a chaplain to a large construction company (the Power Group http://www.powergrp.co.za). I hold a doctorate in theology and science and am an ordained minister in the Methodist Church of Southern Africa - so, this presentation draws together:
- Theology
- Biblical and scriptural injunctions on ministry
- An understanding of economics and justice
- Neuroscience (showing how and why we do certain things)
- Research on the Church and the Christian faith

052712 christian vocation (media) - soo ewe jinAaron Khoo
The document discusses the role and responsibilities of journalists and mass media. It argues that they should [1] act justly by speaking up against injustices and corruption, reporting accurately and helping people make informed choices, [2] love mercy by giving voice to marginalized groups and promoting a kinder society, and [3] walk humbly with God by seeking God's approval over man's and influencing society rightly. Christians in media are urged to carry Christ's message and impact culture positively.
This document provides guidelines for Christians on appropriate use of social media. It begins by outlining some of the positives of social media, such as ease of communication, community building, and access to information. However, it then details several dangers, such as increased stress, mood issues, addiction, and focus on self-image. The document concludes by offering seven principles for Christians: focus on real relationships over online ones, think before posting, avoid self-focus in updates, treat people well, use encouraging words, ensure pure motives focused on God, and prioritize important relationships.
This document discusses the theological foundations of work. It covers how the Fall introduced evil and broke relationships between humanity and God, ourselves, each other, and the world. This caused confusion and pain. The cross of Christ began to rectify these relationships and redeem work from its cursed state. Evil exists in personal, systemic, and cosmological dimensions, and is evident in work through things like corruption, oppression, and demonic influence. Christians are called to help redeem work and steward creation through faithful service as redeemed people empowered to be agents of change.
This document provides information about the Women's Ministry of the Baguio Assembly City Church. It discusses hosting an entrepreneurship event focused on developing godly women entrepreneurs. What can we Practically Do to Work for SecessionPeter Hammond
This document outlines 10 practical steps that can be taken to work towards secession, independence, and freedom, according to Dr. Peter Hammond. The steps include: 1) seceding from state indoctrination by homeschooling children; 2) rejecting exploitative entertainment; 3) choosing alternative media over mainstream sources; 4) building a home library; 5) becoming self-sufficient through gardening and renewable energy; 6) strengthening community support networks; 7) learning self-defense; 8) supporting pro-independence groups; 9) obtaining survival guides; and 10) learning history from a Christian perspective to resist manipulation. The overall message is to separate from corrupting influences and support independence movements.
This document discusses why Christians should care about economic freedom. It provides 5 reasons: 1) It aligns with the Christian view of human anthropology as image-bearers called to work. 2) It is the best way to serve the poor through market trade that has lifted billions out of poverty. 3) It allows people to find fulfillment through using their talents to serve others. 4) It supports the biblical concept of property rights and stewardship. 5) The Bible does not support massive redistribution through the state but a limited government that protects negative rights. Overall, the document argues that economic freedom correlates with higher levels of human flourishing consistent with biblical values.
The document discusses various topics related to economics, culture, and human development. It covers spiral dynamics theory and how people adapt based on their environment. Complex problems require complex solutions. Financial crises are normal and result from factors like greed, fear, and government influence. Companies create value through relationships with stakeholders, though some prioritize shareholders over others or encourage unsustainable practices. Overall, the document emphasizes that everything is connected and economics involves human behavior.
The document discusses the seven spheres of influence that Christians are called to penetrate and transform according to the Great Commission: (1) worship/belief systems, (2) family, (3) media, (4) government/politics, (5) education/science and technology, (6) economy/business, and (7) arts & culture. It provides strategies for taking over these spheres by either building new Godly systems or penetrating and restructuring existing systems from within, working quietly like yeast to transform them. Christians are challenged to identify which sphere they will work to take over.
The document discusses how color is an important element in Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz. It contrasts the dull brown colors of Kansas with the more vibrant and eccentric colors of Munchkin Land. The ruby red slippers and emerald city are also mentioned as significant uses of color in the novel. The purpose is to discover the meaning and significance behind the different colors Baum used in his descriptive storyline.

Every day we are faced with making decisions. Situations arise that are both planned and unplanned for. Often times the decisions we make will have a direct impact on the bottom line as well as on how the community will perceive our overall brand. When we are faced with making choices and decisions, there are times when stretching the truth, or not telling the truth or behaving in a way that we know is not really correct can lead to a better presentation or end result, but is that doing the right thing? Is doing the right thing so important that if in doing so may cause a less than desirable outcome, is it OK as long as nobody really gets hurt?
In this session, Jay will lead a discussion on the importance of “Doing the Right Thing.” Jay will provide some real case histories from his professional experience and talk about how doing both the wrong and the right thing could have led to different outcomes and what ultimately the decisions were. The goal is for leaders in attendance to think more deeply about what it means to be courageous enough to do the right things and how this could lead to future advancement.

Financing of Business for Kingdom Impact by Andre BaardThe Kingdom Summit
This document discusses various types of financing for businesses with a kingdom impact, including retail debt, venture capital, crowdfunding, and gifts. It specifically addresses the concept of "just plunder," which refers to displacing unrighteousness in the marketplace through inspired innovations and value capture strategies. Another type discussed is "self-finance/kings' treasury," which involves accessing finances through one's inheritance as a king and priest in the order of Melchizedek, rather than relying on donations. The document advocates for a paradigm shift where businessmen do not need to finance pastors and the church, and wealthy Christians should give generously to kingdom endeavors from their treasury, accessed through faith and prayer.
Partnerships for Micro-Enterprises and SMEs by Tim GreenwayThe Kingdom Summit
This document discusses principles for partnerships between micro-enterprises and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). It emphasizes that partnerships should establish something greater than individual units and create synergy. When forming partnerships, agreements should be simple and outline responsibilities, outcomes for each party, and exit strategies in case one party wants to leave. Partnerships are encouraged to have kingdom impact by uplifting others, sharing resources to help companies grow, and extending grace to larger and smaller businesses.
Riana Zinn discusses collaborating between churches to further God's kingdom. As an optometrist, her calling is to open the eyes of the blind as Isaiah prophesied. She sees reconciliation across borders in treating patients from Nigeria. In Madagascar, she follows God's agenda of proclaiming liberty to the captives and allowing people to see as God sees through testing eyes and opening them spiritually. Unity starts in prayer and surrender, and with unity comes God's blessing. Through her work, hope and God's light are restored as families are changed.
This document discusses principles for effective partnering. It outlines the "7 C's of Partnering" which are necessary to absorb the risks of collaboration: Complementing Competencies, Character, Companionship (Culture), Collaboration Index, Collaboration Quotient, Capital, and Charis (Grace). It also notes that partnering across sectors like business, government, NGOs is important and developing pilots/prototypes. Partnering opportunities between Nigerian and South African businesses are mentioned. Finally, it introduces the "Kingdom Collaborative Model" as a framework.

Building People
• “Tom, don't let anybody kid
you. It's all personal, every bit
of business.”
– Mario Puzo, The Godfather
• All business is personal.
• Business is war. Collision of
Cultures.
• We cannot dehumanise
organisations.
• People in organisations sin
and do righteousness.
The world is our host,
we are the aliens. Only
when Christ returns will
Heaven reign as a
Sovereign and
Absolute Monarchy.
3. Early days adventures of a start-up
• Need a word/prophecy from God
– ‘Make the call’
• Faith and patience (and
courage) – waited 3 long years
• Agreement with wife for first year
to be abnormally busy – birthing
• More thrilling than I expected
• More profitable than I expected
– from salary to profit/shares
• More opposition than I expected
– Sanballat & Tobiah
All truth passes through
three stages. First, it is
ridiculed. Second, it is
violently opposed. Third,
it is accepted as being
self-evident.
- Arthur Schopenhauer
4. Jesus said: the Kingdom of Heaven
is like saccharomyces cerevisiae

5. Kingdom of Heaven and Yeast
• Yeast is a plant, a fungi and is an
accurate metaphor for kingdom
business.
• The action of the truth in the sons
of God works like yeast.
• A little goes a very long way –
0.58% of dough.
• Size doesn’t matter if you work like
yeast.
• Yeast’s work is unseen, yet its
effect is seen everywhere.
• Yeast is diffusive, penetrative and
exhaustive – ie very effective.
• Yet yeast must be mixed in – the
sons of the Kingdom are sent to
the world (not monasteries).
Another parable He spoke
to them: “The kingdom of
heaven is like leaven,
which a woman took and
hid in three measures of
meal till it was all leavened.
Mathew 13:33
6. Practical Examples of
“Kingdom Yeasting”
Small company of 10 people –
positioned and purposed for
kingdom influence:
• Profiled in national &
international industry media –
personal profiles – value
diffusion.
• Consulted in national &
international industry
associations.
• Consulted in government
white papers on industry law
making.
• Strategic sponsorships –
principled athletes / artists /
academics / worthy awards.
• Involved in education and
training organisations of
industry.
• Initiate conversation on
‘Industry White Elephants” at
conferences.
• Kingdom yeast is like a voice
that cannot be ignored – it
creates ‘forcible contact’ - it
diffuses, flavours, grows,
permeates, penetrates.
7. Influence VS Significance
Influence:
having great influence
on someone or
something.
• focused on others
• need sourced from
identity revelation
Significance:
sufficiently great or
important to be worthy
of attention; noteworthy.
• focused on self
• need sourced from
identity problem
8. Kingdom Yeasting
• Influencing / impacting staff – family friendly
corporate functions:
• Invite spouses
• Invite kids
• No drunkenness
• Influencing / impacting clients and suppliers.
• Influencing / impacting colleagues,
shareholders, top management.
9. You can transform the giants with
just a handful of the right yeast
