Congress is trying to help by passing legislation that expands volunteer and paid opportunities for those over 55 through programs like AmeriCorps. The bill also creates new fellowships to engage retirees in national service projects. However, Boomers may ultimately need to work as long as possible or become self-employed to financially support themselves in retirement.
