A day in the life of a BUDDY
      District Nurse...
John is a District Nurse. He lives in a small house with his wife and two children.
Every morning before his shift begins he takes his Buddy Kit out to the car and
pops it in the boot in one trip.
John then drives in to HQ where he has a brief meeting with the rest of the nurses on shift
that day, it’s good to start the morning with the team .
John then downloads his schedule for the day, amends the order and updates so the
admin sta can access it in the case of an emergency or query.
Once John knows his patient list for the day he checks his personal inventory and
replenishes his Buddy Kit from the stockroom if he needs to.
John scans the code on the stock box when choosing an item so the order system and his
personal inventory are updated, making stock handling easier and ensuring everything is
                                   always available.
All stocked up and ready to go John quickly plans his route so he can just plug it in and
drive once he’s back in the car.
John sets o the day knowing he has all the stock he needs and that if there are any
problems HQ can see where he might be on his route.
Once John arrives at his rst patient he can decide which combination of the Buddy Kit to
take. In this case he needs the whole system.
John has all his kit with him for this visit at a resiential home but only needs one hand to
transport it all. Leaving the other free to close the boot and lock the car without placing
                                    his bags on the oor.
John arrives at the home and rings the doorbell, no balancing act or multiple trips.
There is a patient he has not seen before so he scans the patient’s QR code and makes
sure there is nothing important he needs to know before starting treatment.
John opens up his Buddy Kit and prepares the dressings on the surface available. It’s
smooth and easy to wipe down before and after he has completed the treatment. The 2D
format means he can see all of his kit clearly.
John’s second patient has requested a paper record of their care rather than accessing it
online. John simply plugs his smartphone into the smartcard device and prints out a
summary of the treatment information he has entered for the Patient Care Record.
John now leaves the residence and packs the Buddy Kit back into the boot of his car.
Everything is back in the case and clean to use for the next patient.
John makes a verbal record of some observations he made whilst completing the last
patients care that he did not want to record in front of the patient as well as a note to
pack a di erent dressing next time. He can later transcribe this using software,
                                     or manually.
John can now head back to HQ at the end of his shift. Some of his PCR’s were pushed
during his lunch when he had access to wi- but there are still a few to do once
                                  he gets back.
Once back at HQ John uses the smart card reader device and pushes through the new
Patient Care Records so they can be uploaded and saves him having to login and
                             transcribe like he used to.
John and the other members of the team all sit down for their meeting. Members out of
o ce are sent the agenda and minutes using the district forum.
Due to an outbreak of MRSA at the residential home John has decided to pop the Buddy
case in the dishwasher. This will prevent any cross-infection with other patients or when
                                    taking his kit home.
WIth a clean kit bag and no paperwork to do, John heads home.

A day inthe life of a BUDDY District Nurse...
  • 15.
John is aDistrict Nurse. He lives in a small house with his wife and two children. Every morning before his shift begins he takes his Buddy Kit out to the car and pops it in the boot in one trip.
  • 16.
John then drivesin to HQ where he has a brief meeting with the rest of the nurses on shift that day, it’s good to start the morning with the team .
  • 17.
John then downloadshis schedule for the day, amends the order and updates so the admin sta can access it in the case of an emergency or query.
  • 18.
Once John knowshis patient list for the day he checks his personal inventory and replenishes his Buddy Kit from the stockroom if he needs to.
  • 19.
John scans thecode on the stock box when choosing an item so the order system and his personal inventory are updated, making stock handling easier and ensuring everything is always available.
  • 20.
All stocked upand ready to go John quickly plans his route so he can just plug it in and drive once he’s back in the car.
  • 21.
John sets othe day knowing he has all the stock he needs and that if there are any problems HQ can see where he might be on his route.
  • 22.
Once John arrivesat his rst patient he can decide which combination of the Buddy Kit to take. In this case he needs the whole system.
  • 23.
John has allhis kit with him for this visit at a resiential home but only needs one hand to transport it all. Leaving the other free to close the boot and lock the car without placing his bags on the oor.
  • 24.
John arrives atthe home and rings the doorbell, no balancing act or multiple trips.
  • 25.
There is apatient he has not seen before so he scans the patient’s QR code and makes sure there is nothing important he needs to know before starting treatment.
  • 26.
John opens uphis Buddy Kit and prepares the dressings on the surface available. It’s smooth and easy to wipe down before and after he has completed the treatment. The 2D format means he can see all of his kit clearly.
  • 27.
John’s second patienthas requested a paper record of their care rather than accessing it online. John simply plugs his smartphone into the smartcard device and prints out a summary of the treatment information he has entered for the Patient Care Record.
  • 28.
John now leavesthe residence and packs the Buddy Kit back into the boot of his car. Everything is back in the case and clean to use for the next patient.
  • 29.
John makes averbal record of some observations he made whilst completing the last patients care that he did not want to record in front of the patient as well as a note to pack a di erent dressing next time. He can later transcribe this using software, or manually.
  • 30.
John can nowhead back to HQ at the end of his shift. Some of his PCR’s were pushed during his lunch when he had access to wi- but there are still a few to do once he gets back.
  • 31.
Once back atHQ John uses the smart card reader device and pushes through the new Patient Care Records so they can be uploaded and saves him having to login and transcribe like he used to.
  • 32.
John and theother members of the team all sit down for their meeting. Members out of o ce are sent the agenda and minutes using the district forum.
  • 33.
Due to anoutbreak of MRSA at the residential home John has decided to pop the Buddy case in the dishwasher. This will prevent any cross-infection with other patients or when taking his kit home.
  • 34.
WIth a cleankit bag and no paperwork to do, John heads home.
