GloFAS river discharge data was used as boundary conditions for an ocean model, improving the simulation of ocean salinity states. Compared to previous methods, the dynamically modeled river runoff provided greater temporal and spatial resolution. This project, called BRONCO, aims to benefit coupled atmosphere-land-ocean systems by creating links between Copernicus climate, emergency management, and marine environment monitoring services to integrate river discharge modeling.
