In 2009, The Ignite Group opened its third
Eclipse bar in Barcelona’s W Hotel, shortly
followed by the opened of the Wyld bar at the
W Hotel in London’s Leicester Square.
In 2012, the group left its mark on Asia with
the opening the highly-anticipated Boujis Hong
Kong. Eclipse Istanbul followed in December
2015, finding its place atop the luxury hotel ‘Le
Meridien Etiler.’
The Ignite Group was founded in 1998 by
‘Restaurateur of the Year’ Matt Hermer and
planted its roots with the opening of the
original Eclipse bar in Chelsea, London. The
Ignite Group is now home to some of the most
popular A-list hotspots in London, including
the legendary Boujis nightclub.
In 2006 Notting Hill saw the opening of the

Founder and Chief Executive of The Ignite
Group, Matt Hermer continues to set the
strategic direction for the company’s marketing,
PR and international growth.
After eight years working as an investment
banker in the City, 26 year-old Matt bought
his favourite bar on a whim, renamed it ‘Eclipse’
and transformed it into a highly successful
venue, helping to spearhead the revolution
in London’s fading cocktail culture.
After opening another Eclipse bar, Matt
realised that his clientele wanted to continue
partying the night away without relocating
to the West End of London. This revelation
inspired him to open Boujis, a boutique
nightclub in South Kensington, which is now a
huge success and boasts a high-profile clientele
of A-list celebrities and aristocracy alike.
In 2006 Matt’s passion for food and wine led to
the opening of the first Bumpkin restaurant in
Notting Hill, which won rave reviews and praise
for its commitment to sustainable, seasonal
British produce.
