3. Founded in 2003, Dai Truong Phat now has over 150 employees specializing in publishing, testing, language
training and information technology. We offer international standard education solutions that suit the Vietnamese
education system such as Family and Friends, Solutions, Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary with Vietnamese
Translation to schools, language centers, libraries and bookstores throughout the country.
Dai Truong Phat is committed to providing quality education services through the continuous investment,
research and development of new products. We consider Information Technology to be the key to the future of
education. Our English language program for young learners, i-Learn Smart Start (Sao Khue Award 2014) utilizes
modern technology to enhance the learning and teaching experience. The program offers a full Learning
Management System to enable schools, teachers and parents to monitor student progress.
Dai Truong Phat is a trusted partner of Departments of Education and Training throughout Vietnam and we
regularly co-operate to provide teacher training workshops and events for schools to develop the education
system. We have also co-operated closely with the Ministry of Education and Training to operate the national
‘Olympic Talent in English’ contest.
As a result of our contribution to the development of the education system, Dai Truong Phat was presented

5. Mr. Keith Ellis has worked as a Director, Manager, Management Trainer and English
Language and Business Skills Teacher for the past 23 years in 12 countries, giving
him a wealth of expertise and cultural experience. He has managed projects in Asia
and the Middle East for seven years and he has spent eight years specializing in
corporate training in business, management skills and marketing. Combined with a
dedicated and professional attitude to training, this gives him an ideal opportunity
to manage trainers and teachers and deliver courses that truly meet the needs of
management and language learners.

In this presentation, we will focus on the practicalities of teaching EOP. We will discuss the needs of the
students and the role of the teacher, in combination with the context in which teaching takes place. What
results should be a motivating and useful learning experience, productive for all concerned.
Literature is the pathway to knowledge and development of critical thinking skills. It can also be proved as
a great source of language input and a great motivational activity for language learners. The presenter will
analyze certain basic aspects of analyzing literature and how this can be achieved via constant practice in the
ELT Classroom.
Mr. KEITH ELLIS
MR. STEPHEN FAULKNER
Stephen Faulkner has over 9 years experience teaching English in Vietnam.
Although he has worked with a wide range of learners from young learners and
teenagers to adults, he enjoys teaching children and devotes his time to focus
more on this area. He has gained a deep insight into the teaching of primary
students, especially in state schools where he can collaborate with his Vietnamese
colleagues. As the Head Teacher for DTP Online, a company providing
supplementary programs designed to get students more involved in English
learning interactively, he has contributed extensively to making technology work in
the classroom. He has also been involved in running numerous workshops and
teacher training courses with the aim of better equipping teachers with knowledge
and skills that allow them to apply technology in their teaching. Stephen strongly
believes that though technology application can enhance language teaching
immensely, the teacher still plays an irreplaceable role in class

In this session we shall focus on how to put theory into practice. Using the structure of a standard lesson,we will
attempt to define what is considered “good” practice methodologically and demonstrate how to ground this
practically in the world of everyday primary teaching.

6. Ms. NGUYEN THI HOAI AN
Nguyen Thi Hoai An is a freelance lecturer in HCMC at different universities
and colleges. She has a Master Degree in TESOL (University of Canberra).
Since the beginning of her EFL teaching and teacher training career, An has
focused on helping her students create and increase their intrinsic motivation in
learning. She believes that students should be allowed to enjoy autonomy that
can lead to the development of their creative intelligence.
She is a member of the Asian Creative Writing Group with a number of short
stories and poems published. An has given presentations on textbooks and
conducted workshops on various topics. She taught courses of English teaching
methodology at the Open University in HCMC until 2014.

In this presentation, Ms. An will present about i-Learn Smart Start with the following content:

Mr. HARRY HODGE
Harry Hodge brings considerable experience to the Smart Start series. Harry has
worked as an educator in South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam, teaching students
ranging from young learners to adults for more than 5 years.
As a writer and editor, he has co-authored the Smart Start series as well as working
for publications in Canada and China for more than 10 years. Harry is also the voice
coach for Smart Start’s young voice actors, and appears himself in the audio
recordings for the series. He has also done voice work for clients such as Samsung,
Swiss Re Insurance, Vinacafe, and more.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University in Montreal,
Canada.

Pre-school education focuses more on the child’s personality development. Language learning during pre-school
years should naturally take this prerequisite into account! In this session we will look into the five domains that
contribute to the child's personality development and how we aim to reinforce this through language activities.
For pre-school children, providing the environment that fosters language awareness sets the foundation for
further development in language learning.

7. MR. GEORGE KOKOLAS
George Kokolas has been working as a teacher trainer and academic consultant
for Express Publishing for the last 13 years. Right after his graduation he branched
out from his major in English Literature and devoted himself fully to ELL.

MR. PATRICK PAINTER
Patrick Painter studied history and pedagogy in North America at the University of
Western Ontario, York University, and the University of Connecticut. He worked as a
university lecturer and English language teacher for 7 years before joining Express
Publishing as an ELT consultant.

Further to the development of thinking skills, emotions are also crucial and form an indispensable part of any
learners’ identity, behavior and receptiveness. Certain students need to feel emotionally intrigued and secure
before they start any cognitive or critical thinking skills development. That is why, teachers should put special
emphasis on tasks which offer an opportunity for learning from a more emotional perspective.
We will take a practical look at how to put a presentation together and the communication skills that can be
used to make it more effective. Many people find public speaking intimidating; good preparation may not get
rid of all the butterflies, but it can make sure there are less of them.
Teaching Phonics at Primary classes has become, nowadays, more and more popular. Via Phonics students
can boost their pronunciation skills and set a foundation for developing sounds like the ones native
speakers use. In this session the speaker will try to demonstrate how phonetic fluency can be gradually
achieved in an interesting and funny way via effective methodology
How much do we know about the amazing world we live in? What about the Earth’s
peoples and cultures? The animals, the plants, the lands and the oceans? Science,
Biology, Geography and History answer these questions through CLIL readers in an
exciting & thrilling way. Explore our World CLIL Readers offer a remarkable lifetime
learning experience; they expose learners to real use of the language and prepare
them for life outside the classroom.
He likes to be considered as a frontline teacher spending many hours inside the
classroom teaching and learning at the same time. His vast experience has been of
considerable help in developing helpful and practical views about different topics of
ELL Methodology, like motivation, effective learning, technology in the classroom,
critical thinking, differentiated instruction and much more. He has delivered several
successful seminars in conferences throughout the world, including TESOL Spain,
TESOL USA, MEXTESOL, APAC Barcelona, TESOL GREECE, Conferencia de Instituto
Dominico-Americano, ELTA Albania. Conclusively he constantly participates in
International Book Fairs worldwide including Frankfurt Book Fair, London Book Fair,
Beijing Book Fair and Tokyo Book Fair.
