Current Experience as a Broadcast Intern January 4, 2016 till Present
My duty as a Broadcast Intern includes television
production of live and current legislative bill
meetings of the 52nd
Legislature – 2nd
Session,
research of archived recordings and profiles of
members of the House of Reps and Senate, writing
of feature/human interest stories, researching of
proposed government bills, research of the bill
sponsors, and the recording of Democratic Caucus
meetings, editing with Adobe Premier, data entry of
bills voted on/struck out and deliberated upon
during the Republican/Democratic Senate and
House Committee Hearings, and filing them
electronically while saving them as .png files. The
editing or trimming of legislative broadcasts on
Granicus equipment includes the process of
uploading docs to the main Granicus server by
previewing the recorded meeting, editing,
trimming, saving the files/agenda items on each
meeting committee from start to finish, and finally
making the file public. Camera work includes set
up to troubleshoot the cameras, preview and test-
recording by using a joystick which zooms into the
Senate seatings, use of the Podium Wide-Shot to
tilt, zoom, focus, pan to maintain head rooms to
Chairpersons/Vice/members of the Senate with a
preview of the VDesk.
My position involves television production of
several human interest stories on an approved topic
with an assigned Cannon 100 C and DJI Osmo
attachable to a mobile phone setting up Wide shot,
Medium shot, and Close ups. One of my feature
stories with a historical angle was the Code Talker
Monument located at the Wesley Bolin Plaza
located in front of the House of Representatives
and the Senate at the State Capitol building of
Phoenix, Arizona.
I go “Live” on the router enabling audio/video
input transition on a Granicus monitor after loading
the appropriate committee while maintaining the
12bit rate volume to ascertain perfect audio quality
according to each speaker’s individual voice level.
Using Adobe Photoshop Elements, I do a data entry
style of work by double-clicking on the Lower 3rd
Folder entering numbers of bills, double-clicking
on Committee name folder, double-clicking by
choosing committee template on .psd file and then
double-clicking on the date field. The process
continues into hiding three bill elements by
clicking once on the eye icon next to layer of Bill
number, Short Title, Name/Blue bar and saving the
bills.
