The village of Brezoaele is located in southern Romania on the border of Giurgiu county near the Dâmbovița river. According to the 2002 census, the population was 4,146 but declined to 4,012 by 2011 as many youth left the village in search of better opportunities, leaving behind elderly residents. Two historic churches from the 15th century, the Church of the Dormition of the Holy Mother and the Church of Saint Nicholas, are recognized as architectural monuments of local interest. While low population poses a challenge to the village's agriculture, farmers are starting to organize and focus on organic crops to improve the region's branding and viability.
