This document summarizes the technical process and tools used to create 3D renders of a generation ship. CryEngine 3.6 was used for rendering and level building. Maya 2015 was used for concept design, layout, and modeling. Mudbox was used for sculpting. Photoshop and Quixel Suite were used for texturing. Ivy Generator and Flora3D were used to add vegetation procedurally. Most of the interior has a white, painted metal material. Metals were modeled in Mudbox and welds were sculpted. Very few trends in IT have generated as much buzz as cloud computing. This session will cut through the hype and quickly clarify the ontology for cloud computing. The bulk of the conversation will focus on the open source software that can be used to build compute clouds (infrastructure-as-a-service) and the complimentary open source management tools that can be combined to automate the management of cloud computing environments.

DDI Dense Point Cloud Processing Presentation Oct2009
With the advent of higher powered 3D scanners comes the challenge of dealing with the dense point cloud data sets. Direct Dimensions uses a wide variety of 3D scanning equipment to capture the as-built shape of existing objects. The common problem with all of these projects is the need to proces the point cloud data.
While applications fall generally into either reverse engineering and inspection, both directions present challenges for processing the large data sets efficiently, quickly, and properly. This presentation will focus on an overview of the software tools available commercially that address these problems with a comparison of the various workflows, strategies, and results that one can expect from the various solutions.
