This document discusses the author's philosophy of integrating teaching, scholarship, and service. The author believes this intersection increases their impact, enables them to live as a professor-citizen, and prepares students to be both professionals and engaged citizens. A graphic illustrates the skills developed through this approach: thinking critically, mastering the discipline, identifying problems, applying discipline-based solutions, and team problem-solving in a diverse context. The author's scholarship and service qualify them to teach real-world applications of the field and mentor students through community-engaged work.
