 Legislation and media influence demand
‒ In 1999 diesel represented just 10.9% of sales
before overtaking petrol in 2009
‒ But demand is now falling
 Hybrids, Plug-In Hybrids and pure EVs are
currently following similar early adoption
sales patterns
‒ 12 years after Prius was launched hybrids
represented 0.6% of total car sales
‒ Pure EVs are at an earlier stage in the adoption
cycle but 8 years post Roadster launch they
have a 0.4% share in 2016
