BOTOX injections involve injecting a neurotoxin into facial muscles to relax them and reduce wrinkles. The procedure is non-invasive, painless, and provides temporary smoothing of lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, around the eyes, and elsewhere. BOTOX works by blocking nerve signals to muscles for several months. A consultation discusses the benefits of smoothing wrinkles with minimal downtime before the quick injections are administered. Minor discomfort may occur but full effects emerge within a week, lasting 3-6 months.

Since it was approved to treat a variety of conditions in 1989, BOTOX® has become the most frequently administered cosmetic treatment in the United States. BOTOX® is most commonly used to smooth wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes, and around the mouth.
BOTOX® works by putting a barrier between the nerves and muscles, blocking the signals that cause contraction. This in turn leads to a relaxation and softening of wrinkles.
It only take a few moments to complete a BOTOX® treatment, and it requires no anesthesia. The effects last anywhere from four to six months. With repeated treatments, wrinkles return with increasingly less severity as the muscles learn to stay relaxed.

Botox for your TMJ (tempero mandibular joint) by Dr.Rajat Sachdeva | TMJ Pain...Dr. Rajat Sachdeva
Temporomandibular joint pain or TMJ pain is common. Botox injections can help patients who have not improved with simpler treatments.
Temporomandibular disorder is a common cause of chronic facial pain and is known to interfere with personal relations, professional duties, and overall quality of life. Appropriate diagnosis allows physicians to identify the disorder and initiate an effective therapeutic plan. Botulinum toxin can provide long-term relief of TMD by reducing the intensity, frequency, and duration of recurrent episodes. Adverse effects from BoNT injections are uncommon, mild and transient making it an attractive option for adjunctive therapy for myofascial TMD in patients who have failed initial conservative therapy and systemic pharmacotherapy.

Antibiotic Stewardship by Anushri Srivastava.pptxAnushriSrivastav
Stewardship is the act of taking good care of something.
Antimicrobial stewardship is a coordinated program that promotes the appropriate use of antimicrobials (including antibiotics), improves patient outcomes, reduces microbial resistance, and decreases the spread of infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms.
WHO launched the Global Antimicrobial Resistance and Use Surveillance System (GLASS) in 2015 to fill knowledge gaps and inform strategies at all levels.

ACCORDING TO pewtrusts.org,
Antibiotic stewardship refers to efforts in doctors’ offices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and other health care settings to ensure that antibiotics are used only when necessary and appropriate
According to WHO,
Antimicrobial stewardship is a systematic approach to educate and support health care professionals to follow evidence-based guidelines for prescribing and administering antimicrobials
In 1996, John McGowan and Dale Gerding first applied the term antimicrobial stewardship, where they suggested a causal association between antimicrobial agent use and resistance. They also focused on the urgency of large-scale controlled trials of antimicrobial-use regulation employing sophisticated epidemiologic methods, molecular typing, and precise resistance mechanism analysis.
Antimicrobial Stewardship(AMS) refers to the optimal selection, dosing, and duration of antimicrobial treatment resulting in the best clinical outcome with minimal side effects to the patients and minimal impact on subsequent resistance.
According to the 2019 report, in the US, more than 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections occur each year, and more than 35000 people die. In addition to this, it also mentioned that 223,900 cases of Clostridoides difficile occurred in 2017, of which 12800 people died. The report did not include viruses or parasites

CHAPTER 1 SEMESTER V PREVENTIVE-PEDIATRICS.pdfSachin Sharma
This content provides an overview of preventive pediatrics. It defines preventive pediatrics as preventing disease and promoting children's physical, mental, and social well-being to achieve positive health. It discusses antenatal, postnatal, and social preventive pediatrics. It also covers various child health programs like immunization, breastfeeding, ICDS, and the roles of organizations like WHO, UNICEF, and nurses in preventive pediatrics.
Defecation
Normal defecation begins with movement in the left colon, moving stool toward the anus. When stool reaches the rectum, the distention causes relaxation of the internal sphincter and an awareness of the need to defecate. At the time of defecation, the external sphincter relaxes, and abdominal muscles contract, increasing intrarectal pressure and forcing the stool out
The Valsalva maneuver exerts pressure to expel faeces through a voluntary contraction of the abdominal muscles while maintaining forced expiration against a closed airway. Patients with cardiovascular disease, glaucoma, increased intracranial pressure, or a new surgical wound are at greater risk for cardiac dysrhythmias and elevated blood pressure with the Valsalva maneuver and need to avoid straining to pass the stool.
Normal defecation is painless, resulting in passage of soft, formed stool
CONSTIPATION
Constipation is a symptom, not a disease. Improper diet, reduced fluid intake, lack of exercise, and certain medications can cause constipation. For example, patients receiving opiates for pain after surgery often require a stool softener or laxative to prevent constipation. The signs of constipation include infrequent bowel movements (less than every 3 days), difficulty passing stools, excessive straining, inability to defecate at will, and hard feaces
IMPACTION
Fecal impaction results from unrelieved constipation. It is a collection of hardened feces wedged in the rectum that a person cannot expel. In cases of severe impaction the mass extends up into the sigmoid colon.
DIARRHEA
Diarrhea is an increase in the number of stools and the passage of liquid, unformed feces. It is associated with disorders affecting digestion, absorption, and secretion in the GI tract. Intestinal contents pass through the small and large intestine too quickly to allow for the usual absorption of fluid and nutrients. Irritation within the colon results in increased mucus secretion. As a result, feces become watery, and the patient is unable to control the urge to defecate. Normally an anal bag is safe and effective in long-term treatment of patients with fecal incontinence at home, in hospice, or in the hospital. Fecal incontinence is expensive and a potentially dangerous condition in terms of contamination and risk of skin ulceration
HEMORRHOIDS
Hemorrhoids are dilated, engorged veins in the lining of the rectum. They are either external or internal.
FLATULENCE
As gas accumulates in the lumen of the intestines, the bowel wall stretches and distends (flatulence). It is a common cause of abdominal fullness, pain, and cramping. Normally intestinal gas escapes through the mouth (belching) or the anus (passing of flatus)
FECAL INCONTINENCE
Fecal incontinence is the inability to control passage of feces and gas from the anus. Incontinence harms a patient’s body image

2. BOTOX INJECTION
BOTOX, also known as Botulinum Toxin Type A, is a popular cosmetic
treatment that involves injecting a solution into the muscles of the face
to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The procedure is
non-invasive, relatively painless, and produces results that last for
several months. In this blog, we will explore the benefits of BOTOX
injections and the different areas of the face where it can be applied.
3. BOTOX INJECTION
What is BOTOX?
BOTOX is a neurotoxin that works by blocking the signals between the
nerves and the muscles, causing the muscles to relax. The solution is
made from the same bacteria that cause botulism, a type of food
poisoning. However, the small amounts used in cosmetic treatments
are safe and have been approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.
BOTOX has been used for many years to treat medical conditions such
as muscle spasms, migraines, and excessive sweating. However, in
recent years it has become increasingly popular as a cosmetic
treatment to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
4. BOTOX INJECTION
Benefits of BOTOX
The main benefit of BOTOX injections is that they can dramatically
reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. This is because the
solution relaxes the muscles that cause these lines to form, resulting in
a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance.
Another benefit of BOTOX is that the procedure is non-invasive and
relatively painless. Most people experience only minor discomfort
during the injection process, and there is no need for anesthesia or
sedation. In addition, the recovery time is minimal, with most people
able to resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
5. BOTOX INJECTION
Areas of the Face where BOTOX can be applied
BOTOX can be applied to many different areas of the face, including:
Forehead: BOTOX can be used to reduce the appearance of horizontal
lines and wrinkles on the forehead.
Frown lines: These are the vertical lines that appear between the
eyebrows when a person frowns. BOTOX can be used to relax the
muscles that cause these lines to form, resulting in a smoother, more
youthful appearance.
6. BOTOX INJECTION
Crow's feet: These are the fine lines that appear around the corners of
the eyes. BOTOX can be used to reduce the appearance of these lines
and create a more youthful appearance.
Bunny lines: These are the lines that appear on the sides of the nose
when a person smiles. BOTOX can be used to relax the muscles that
cause these lines to form.
Jawline: BOTOX can be used to contour the jawline and reduce the
appearance of a square jaw.
Neck: BOTOX can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and
lines on the neck.
7. BOTOX INJECTION
Step-by-Step Procedure of BOTOX Injection
Consultation
The first step in the BOTOX injection procedure is a consultation with a
qualified practitioner. During this consultation, the practitioner will
evaluate the patient's medical history, current health status, and the
areas of the face that the patient wants to improve. They will also
discuss the benefits, risks, and limitations of the treatment, as well as
the expected results.
8. BOTOX INJECTION
Preparation
Once the patient is deemed a suitable candidate for BOTOX injection,
the practitioner will prepare the treatment area. This typically involves
cleansing the skin and applying a numbing cream or ice pack to reduce
discomfort during the injection.
9. BOTOX INJECTION
Injection
The practitioner will then use a very fine needle to inject small
amounts of the BOTOX solution into the targeted muscles of the face.
The number of injections required will depend on the size and location
of the treatment area.
Aftercare
After the injections are complete, the practitioner may apply an ice
pack to reduce swelling and discomfort. They may also advise the
patient to avoid strenuous activity, alcohol, and exposure to direct
sunlight for at least 24 hours after the treatment.
10. BOTOX INJECTION
What to Expect During BOTOX Injection
BOTOX injection is a relatively quick and painless procedure that takes
only a few minutes to complete. However, some patients may
experience minor discomfort or a slight burning sensation during the
injection. The practitioner may apply a numbing cream or ice pack to
the treatment area before the injection to reduce discomfort.
11. BOTOX INJECTION
What to Expect After BOTOX Injection
The effects of BOTOX injection typically become noticeable within a few
days to a week after the treatment. The targeted muscles will gradually
relax, resulting in smoother, younger-looking skin. The results of BOTOX
injection usually last for three to six months, after which the patient
may need to undergo additional treatments to maintain the desired
results.
12. BOTOX INJECTION
CONCLUSION
BOTOX injection is a popular cosmetic procedure that can help reduce the
appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, giving the patient a more youthful and
refreshed appearance. The procedure is relatively quick and painless, and the
results are usually noticeable within a few days to a week. While the
procedure does carry some risks and potential side effects, these can be
minimized by seeking treatment from a qualified practitioner with
experience in performing BOTOX injection. Patients should also have realistic
expectations of the treatment and understand that the results are temporary
and may require additional treatments to maintain the desired effects.
Overall, BOTOX injection can be an effective solution for those looking to
improve their appearance and boost their confidence.
