“The Cool, Wimpy Kid”
The novel entitled “The Diary of the Wimpy Kid” by the best-selling author is really a
relatable book. It narrates about the misadventures of the high school weakling named Greg
Heffley. It’s a satirical comedy novel that tells about Greg’s struggles to survive middle school in
a form of journal.
It is really rare to see cartoons and drawings inside a novel, showing the author’s
cartoonist side. The large fonts of the words that resembles like handwriting are also a great help
in reading the book and it makes it more realistic. The author has a great sense of humor as its
shows off on how he wrote Greg’s character and also the silly accidents and quotes that he said.
“I’ll be famous one day, but for now I’m stucked in middle school with a bunch of morons.” This
quote is really hilarious. The Cheese Touch scene is the best moment in the book for us.
The way the book was written was really cute and funny. The author chose words that
can be easily understood by the readers. It deals with issues that normally happen in school like
bullying, friendship, being popular and crushes. It showed the author’s perfect understanding of
kids’ mentality. In totality, the author successfully tackled the difficulties of growing up for
young teens.
We definitely recommend this to young readers aged 10-13 as this book can teach them
lessons and can be a great boredom buster. Overall, we give this a 10/10 for a job well done!
