                                The brown dog
      http://www.americanliterature.com/Crane/SS/ADarkBrownDog.html

This story is about a little boy that finds a puppy while on his way home. The boy
tries everything to keep the dog from fallowing, but it does no good. The boy
beats the dog and the dog still fallows him. While one a beating the dog rolls on
its back and seems to pray. This amuses the boy so he takes him home. When
there the boy waits for his family to come home. The family don’t like the dog so
they beat it; the boy starts a fit, so the family stops. The family only beat the dog
when the boy is not there, so the dog fears everyone but the boy. One night the
father comes home ad is drunk, the dog tries to run from him but the father grabs
him by a leg and throws him out the window. The dog lands on a shed roof five
stories down. The boy runs to the steps and goes down them as fast as he can but,
where he is do small he must go one step at a time with both hands on the step
before. The family come down later to find the boy crying by his dog in the alley.
RESPONSE

The author creates emotion in the reader by making them feel sorry for the
dog at first; and later for the boy.
Throws the dog out the window.
To find the crying boy by the dog.
                          Family beats the dog.
CHARACTERS

In my case I’m like the little boy. I had a dog that I only like. The difference
between us is that my dog died by being ran over by my dad. The boys dog
was killed on purpose, my dad killed mine by accident.
POINT OF VIEW

The point of view in this story is in third person.
The father throws the dog out the window.
                 The boy cries.
The family have don’t like the dog.
CULTURE

This family lives in the city. They have many people and tall apartment
                                 buildings.
One women tries to catch the dog
One cries softly because of the close pins in her mouth
This culture is different from mine because I live in a rural area.
COMPARE/CONTRAST

The culture of the family is like similar to the living one on the chart. They
live in the city and they are a abusive family. They treat others wrong by the
                                story of the dog.
