1) The protagonist, a 17-year-old boy, accidentally kills his younger sister when his brakes fail and his car hits her. 2) Despite it being an accident, his parents immediately blame and loathe him, dissolving the family. 3) Enraged, the father puts a gun in the protagonist's mouth but the mother talks him out of killing their son, and the protagonist flees.
