A 4 week old foal presented with a severe hindlimb lameness and swelling of the right fetlock joint. Radiographs revealed an osseous cyst-like lesion (OCLL) in the medial condyle of the third metatarsal bone measuring 10-12mm. The foal was treated with antibiotics for 5 days, anti-inflammatories for 5 days, and strict box rest for 2 months. Additionally, the foal was given Quinaquanone® (BoneKareTM) orally once daily for 3 months. After 8 weeks, radiographs showed the OCLL was nearly eliminated and the foal had no lameness.
