Birkenes kommune is a municipality in Norway with approximately 4,700 residents. Around 1,100 residents are under 15 years old, including around 800 pupils and 350 children in kindergartens. The municipality has 5 schools and 8 kindergartens, 4 of which are publicly owned and 4 privately owned. It also provides services for refugees, child welfare, health for children and families, educational assistance, and crime prevention, and has around 200 employees with children.
