This presentation is based on biography of Salman Rushdie. Salman Rushdie is a British-Indian author born on June 19, 1947, in Bombay, British India (now Mumbai, India). He gained international fame with the publication of his second novel, "Midnight's Children" (1981), which won the Booker Prize and the "Booker of Bookers" as the best novel to have won the Booker Prize in its first 25 years.

Salman Rushdie
● Salman Rushdie is an Indian born British American
Novelist.
● He is born in 1947.
● His allegorical novels examine historical and philosophical
issues.
● He was educated in England. He become a British citizen
in 1964. On graduating in 1968 he worked briefly as an
actor before starting a career as an advertising
copywriter. His first novel, Grimus, appeared in 1974.

and Transfermation.

9. Satanic Verses:-
● The Satanic Verses is the fourth novel of British -
Indian writer Salman Rushdie.
● First published in 1988, the book was inspired by
the life of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.
● Title refers to the Satanic Verses, a group of
Quranic verses about three pagan meccan
goddesses: Allat, Al-Uzza, and Manat.
● This work is consist of a frame narrative, using
elements of magic realism, interlaced with a
series of sub plots that are narrated as dream
visions experienced by protagonists.

● Rushdie's third novel was a Shame. It was published in
1983. It is set in and about Pakistan.
● This novel was also short listed for the Booker through
it didn't make it.
● The book is written in the style of magic realism.
● It portrays the lives of Iskander Harappa, and General
Raza Hyder, and their relationship. The Central theme
of the novel is that begetting Shame begets violence.
The concept of shame is explored through all of the
characters, with the main focus being on Sufiya
Zinobia and Omar Khayyam.

● Midnight's Children is a 1981 novel by Salman
Rushdie.
● It is a postcolonial, postmodern and magical
realist story told by its protagonist Saleem
Sinai.
● Midnight's Children was awarded the 1981
Booker Prize.

identity, history and the individual,
Fragmentation, Migrancy and memory.
