1. BSC NURSING 1 YEAR
BIOCHEMISTRY
UNIT :-1 (PROKARYOTIC AND EUKARYOTIC
CELL)
BY :- PRAGYA TIWARI
2. PROKARYOTIC CELL:-
It is simplest form of the cell.
Sizemay be 0.1-5um.
Pro means before an karyon means nucleus, which means cell lack true nucleus and have one
envelope system of organisation.
Prokaryotic cell occurs in the bacteria eg :- cynobacteria, mycoplasma.
It has four basic shapes – spherical (cocci), rod (bacilli), halical(spirocheates), comma
shaped(vibrio).
70s types of ribosomes present in it.
These cell has only cell membrane usually surrounded by rigid cell wall, madeup of
peptidogycon the cell wall or may , may not be surrounded by capsule.
3. Chromosome is single and
circular double helical
DNA.
Reproducation via asexual
mode id mainly binary
fission.
Locomotion via flagella
and some prokaryotes
causes pillu for
attachment.
The mode of nutrition is
mainly Heterotrophic some
may cause extra
chromosomal DNA is
called plasmid.
4. EUKARYOTIC CELL :-
The eukaryotic cell involves all animals, plants, fungi and protzoa either unicellular or multicellular.
80s types ribosomes are present in it.
Their cell size range from 10-100 um.
They have complex organization as compare to prokaryotic cell.
The complexity of cell include the presence of various organelle nucleus, ER, gogli apparatus,
Mitrochontria etc
Well organised nucleus, surrounded by nuclear membrane containing nuclear plasma, Nucleolus,
Chormatid.
Reproducation takes place via a gamate formation ( sexual reproduction) .
Their chromosome under goes DNA replication, during cell division and maintain no. Of
chromosome via meiosis during gamate formation.
