Eric Scott Bloom, now 48, has been fascinated with art since he can remember.
All his work, especially in painting and photography, but in all the other
disciplines, as well, is predicated on the fact that spirituality is real, and
that creative power can tap into the power of the spirit, or the human soul, and
reflect profound truths about what it means to be human. More than 1,000
paintings, millions of photographs, thousands of poems, hundreds of songs, and
the list goes on, and his work continues. Bloom, who calls himself "MODARTIST,"
claims the scope of his overall body of work came into being because he does his
art without compromise or self-censorship. His spirituality has given him a key
to the castle of producing vast amounts of work in many varying fields. Two
things serve as his main inspirations: His love and fascination with his
artistic, creative idols and mentors, and his now fifteen year-old son, Kyle,
who also writes music, paints, takes photographs, et al. "My art is now for my
son. It'll be my legacy to him. Along with un-conditional love and the reverence
I hold for Kyle, I have my art to give him, and his family, when I'm gone. It
will be all the art and music that stands for those moments when I truly tapped
into my inner being; whatever it is that makes being human possible, and became
one with my vision of what art can sound like, or look like. How it can move
people to think and feel in a way that is most intense and unique. Bloom feels
that all his work, although original, is definitely his on-going homage to the
artists that came before him, and whom he followed and studied in his formative
years as a young romantic. Someone once told Bloom: "Eric, you can't do it all.
You should just pick one art form, and stick with it." Eric didn't listen.
