Steve is a former Naval Officer, Police Detective, Executive Security Manager for Qantas
Airways Limited and executive level member of the Australian Office of Transport
Security. Steve has over twenty-
experience in aviation security.
Steve has been intimately involved in the development of aviation security in Australia
and overseas. During a 17-year career with Qantas he held a number of senior
management roles both operational and strategic. A trained incident and aviation
-site manager in both New York
and Bali following the attacks of 11 Sept 2001 and 12 October 2002. Later he was
seconded to the Australian Protective Services to review Air Marshal training in the
as the Security Manager Freight, the policies and processes he developed have been
adopted by a range of governments and organisations.
Since leaving Qantas he has been employed by the Office of Transport Security as an
Executive Level manager and later he started AvSec Consulting Pty Ltd, an aviation
security consulting business with former Qantas Executive Manager, William Dent.
He has consulted to governments and organisations around the globe including,
Australia, the UAE, Israel, United States, Singapore, Qatar, Bhutan, Malaysia, Hong Kong,
the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Thailand, India, Papua New Guinea,
China and others.
He has spoken at conferences and is a regular contributor to the Security Solutions
Magazine. His articles on screener training were so well received by the Office of
Transport Security that they asked permission to distribute them to the Aviation Security
Training Advisory Group.
