This document provides an overview of libraries and librarianship in Turkey. It discusses the transition of Turkish libraries to new opportunities and challenges, with sections on university libraries, open access and institutional repositories, the National Library of Turkey, manuscript libraries, archives of the Ottoman Empire, Turkish Republican Archives, and major Turkish libraries. The document was prepared by Didar Bayir for the Turkish Librarians' Association on the occasion of their 2008 annual conference.
