3. Bike MS Recap
Across Oklahoma, residents put the pedal to the metal to benefit the Oklahoma National MS Society’s 2011
Bike MS; Mother Road Ride.
The cyclists lined the starting point for the Mother Road Ride in downtown Tulsa, amid rain and clouds. Cyclists
followed Route 66 to Tilghman Park in Chandler where music, food and rest awaited them. An early morning
start got cyclists up and out of Chandler, down Route 66 and across the finish line in Oklahoma City directly in
front of the state capitol building, just in time for a celebration.
This year’s Bike MS events were hugely successful. Combined, these pedal pushing fundraisers have raised
$410,000. With the help of sponsors such as News Channel 8, funds raised through the annual Bike MS ride
support breakthrough research. Proceeds also support ongoing programs and services for those with MS,
including wellness classes, career counseling, advocacy, financial assistance, scholarships, utility assistance
and more.
