In five stages over 20 days, OpenText Professional Services certi-
fied consultants can implement an entire project that will trans-
form your organization.
Project stages:
1. Project framework
A frame of reference for the project is established. This includes
goals, scope, expected results, project plan, human and mate-
rial resource availability, execution dates and any other appli-
cable elements.
2. Training
Aimed to reduce the impact of using new information systems, it
can follow two different lines:
1. Initial training for everyone in the project using a
neutral data model.
2. Tailored training for users from different areas.
3. Analysis and selection of opportunities
The work team seeks to understand the user’s needs and envi-
ronment in order to create the most suitable model and select the
appropriate analysis techniques for the suite’s environment.
4. Design and building
Taking project needs and data origins into account, one or more
models will be built using BDA loading tools. This is the responsi-
bility of the project’s work team, assisted by analysts and techni-
cal professionals. Data must be accessible from the consultancy’s
server. This includes:
• Design of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes:
Initially, parallelism is established in order to optimize it later
through the results of the loading tests, using ETL’s server
processing capability. The execution of ETL’s processes will
form a logical dependencies tree so that specific processes
are executed depending upon the results of others.
• Building the system: ETL includes building the necessary
processes, files and databases for extracting, transforming
and loading data.
• Execution of ETL’s tests: This ensures its correct functioning
and is useful for correcting any errors.
5. Implementation
Consultants developing the project will provide the necessary
support and guidance on:
a) Preparing the way to production: the model’s initial plan.
b) Installing and configuring the testing and exploitation envi-
ronment: installation and configuration of the exploitation
