A man was robbed and beaten on the road from Jerusalem to Jericho. A priest and Levite passed by without helping, but a Samaritan cared for the man. The next day, the Samaritan paid the innkeeper to take care of the man until he returned. Jesus taught that neighbors are those in need of love and compassion. He also said to invite the poor and disabled to meals instead of friends and family.

2. In one story Jesus

3. After a priest and a Levite had passed without helping, a Samaritan (a race despised by the
Jews of Jesus' time) had compassion on the poor man and brought him to an inn in the
next town.

利亞人卻同情
那位可憐人，
把他帶到鄰鎮

The next morning the Samaritan gave the innkeeper two silver coins and said, "Please
take care of the man. If you spend more than this on him, I will repay you when I return."

5. Your neighbor is anyone
that needs your love.
Jesus says, “Treat others
as you want them to
treat you.”
在這個故事裡，耶穌清

6. One Sabbath day Jesus went to eat dinner in the home of a leader of the Pharisees. He said,
“When you put on a luncheon or a banquet, don’t invite your friends, brothers, relatives,
and rich neighbors. For they will invite you back, and that will be your only reward. Instead,
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. Then God will reward you for inviting
those who could not repay you.”
有個安息日，耶穌到一位法
利賽人的首領家裡作客。 耶
穌又對主人說：「擺設午宴、
晚宴時，不要邀請你的朋友、
弟兄、親戚或有錢的鄰居，
免得他們回請你，你便得到
報答了。相反，你設宴時，
要邀請貧窮的、殘疾的、瘸
腿的、瞎眼的，這樣你就有
福了，因為他們都沒有能力
回報你，上帝一定會賞賜
你。」

7. When it was time for supper,
Jesus got up from the table,
took off his robe, wrapped a
towel around his waist, and
poured water into a basin.
Then he began to wash the
disciples’ feet, drying them
with the towel he had around
him.
吃晚飯的時候，耶穌就起身
離席，脫去外衣，拿一條手
巾束腰。 然後他倒了一盆水，
洗門徒的腳，並且用束腰的
手巾擦乾。

8. After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you
understand what I was doing? Since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you
ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done
to you. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
耶穌洗完了門徒的腳，
就穿上外衣，再坐下
來，對他們說：『我
給你們作的，你們明
白嗎？ 我是主，是老
師，尚且洗你們的腳，
你們也應當彼此洗腳。
我作了你們的榜樣，
是要你們也照著我所
作的去行。 你們如果
彼此相愛，世人就會
認出你們是我的門
徒。』

9. Those first Christians turned the world upside
down with the love of God. The way they lived
convinced others that their faith was real. The
Roman author Tertullian (c.160–c. 225), when
speaking of the early church, reported that the
pagans would exclaim, “See how they love one
another!” Clearly the Christians’ concern and
care was visible in their actions, attitudes, and
words.
那些最早期的基督徒們，以上帝的愛翻轉了
世界。他們的生活方式讓他人深信他們的信
仰是真實的。羅馬作家特土良（約西元160-
225年）報導有關早期教會時，提到當時異教

10. When Jesus returns in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will say to those on his
right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from
the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a
drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me
clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’
當耶穌在祂的榮耀中與眾
天使降臨的時候，祂對右
邊的人說，『我父所賜福
的人啊，來承受創世以來
為你們預備的國度吧。因
為我饑餓時，你們給我吃
的；我口渴時，你們給我

11. Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord,
when did we ever see you hungry and feed you?
Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a
stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and
give you clothing? When did we ever see you
sick or in prison and visit you?’
And Jesus will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when
you did it to one of the least of these my
brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
那些義人會回答說，『主啊！
我們什麼時候見你餓了就給你吃的？
見你渴了就給你喝的？見你身在異
鄉就接待你？見你赤身露體就給你
穿的呢？我們又什麼時候見你生病
或坐牢，就去看你呢？』

是幫助我了。』
