4. The Origin of BITeB
• BITeB was born in 2003 thanks to a donation of computer from
Lombardy Region due to an accident occurred and to recovering of all
data in the computers; those computers have been asked by a
Missionary in south American to build a school
• The Biomedical division was added to the I.T. one in 2005 following the
requests received from an Engineer in Palestine that has been able,
thanks to friends working in Hospitals in Italy, to completely restructure
the Hospital where he was working in Nazareth
• The Techsoup division was born in 2010 thanks to a global program
involving Microsoft, Symantec, Cisco and many other hardware and
software companies

5. Goals and Objectives
• The main goal is to transfer old but running technologies to the
developing countries to support the growth of schools and hospitals
• Our objective is to maintain a high standard of quality in the projects
we manage to ensure that all the equipment we deliver will be working
for many years, can be easily maintained with spare parts and
technicians, and over it will be very useful to our beneficiaries
• Practically we want to grant to our beneficiaries that the material they
are asking for is the right one, it will be consistent with the
environment, it can be maintained and repaired in the following years

6. Why a Biomedical Division
• Today we have in our country a huge availability of medical equipments old
but working
• Between the sector operators, due to the quick technology switch, is growing
the awareness to be able to take advantage from the residual life of dismissed
equipments.
• The technologies transfer towards developing countries is limited, occasional
and when it happens, is often inadequate to the real needs of local structures
• Main obstacles for the bank activities:
– Low technical knowledge of operators
– Political internal constraints in the destination countries
– Transportation costs and customs clearance
– Installation, formation and maintenance
