Dr. Dicksheet completed 117 Plastic surgery operations. He also examined 1352
patients with the help of 38 doctors during the Plastic Surgery camp held in Sancheti
Hospital by Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana, Pune. Eminent personalities from all the

News reporters from the Marathi daily 'Saamna', found it quite strange that earthquake
affected people from Bhuj, are not aware of any presence of ministers or government
officers in Gujarat, but every quake stricken person knows about Shri. Shantilal Muttha
and Shri. Sureshdada Jain, because they are the ones who put an entire young

bureaucrats had gathered to witness and support a great social reform movement of
Mass Marriage pioneered by Shri. Shantilal Muttha, Founder and National President of
BJS, who's daughter Sonali got married to Vaibhav Chordia along with 11 other couples
in the Mass Marriage at Pune. Mr. Manohar Joshi, Chief Minister of Maharashtra said

The Plastic Surgery Camp organised by Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana at the Sancheti
Hospital in Pune witnessed examination of 1200 people within 6 days. Dr. Sharadkumar
Dicksheet performed 512 surgeries for cleft lips, deformed nose, facial scars, squint

The Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana has made elaborate plan to give free education to the children of 1000
families at the cost Rs. 30 crores who were affected by tsunami. The preference will be given to the
orphanage who have lost ether one or both parents. This scheme is successfully implemented to the
children who have lost their parents in the gujrath earth quake at Latur way back in 1993. The same
scheme will be adopted tp the tsunami affected people. (January 7, 2005)

natural calamities in 1993 free affected service to the children affected by Latur and
Gujrath bhukamp in 2001. similarly Jain Sangh has decided to implement 1000 children

In a major effort to provide quick shelters to help quake-hit people of J & K, Bharatiya
Jain Sanghatana has utilised recycled pre-fabricated material used by them during the
construction of schools in Gujarat in 2001. This is the first time in the country that
material employed in one national disaster has been successfully used for relief work in

AFFAIRS
(EXCERPTS)
(i) Re: Relief and rehabilitation in the aftermath of Jammu and
Kashmir earthquake
The Non Governmental Organization have also rendered support
in providing shelter to the earthquake affected persons of J&K.
Bhartiya Jain Sangathan (BJS) has donated 870 prefabricated
structures which are to be erected in the earthquake affected
areas of J&K, particularly in Uri and Tangdhar. The first
consignment of 245 pre-fabricated structures was delivered to
the State Government of Jammu on 12th November, 2005 and has
already been transported by the State Government to Tangdhar.
The second consignment of 277 pre fabricated strictures was
delivered at Jammu on 21-11-2005 and the third consignment of
the remaining 348 pre fabricated structures will be dispatched to
the State Government by 30th November 2005. These pre-
fabricated structures will be erected at four locations in Tangdhar
and one location in Uri where households were required to be
r e l o c a t e d b e c a u s e o f t h e i r v u l n e r a b i l i t y t o
landslides/avalanches.
