This document discusses Oracle Coherence, a distributed in-memory data grid. It provides high scalability and performance by storing frequently accessed data in memory across multiple servers. Coherence can scale to support over 1 TB of heap memory, 700 GB of data, and 250,000 events per second sent to clients. It offers sub-5 millisecond transaction times at 300+ transactions per second. Coherence also provides interoperability by integrating with applications and platforms like Microsoft Excel. It leverages the capabilities of both Oracle and Sun technologies to deliver very low latency, high transaction throughput, and linear scalability.
