The TEI Consortium's Special Interest Group on Libraries has recently revised the "Best Practices for TEI in Libraries" document. The revised version updates the widely adopted encoding levels, which range from automated reformatting of print content to deep encoding for analysis. It also includes a substantially revised TEI Header section to improve interoperability with library metadata standards like MARC. In addition, the Best Practices now provide XML schemas for encoding levels 1-4 to better ensure conformance and interoperability across digital texts.
