Berseem is known as the "King of forage crops" and is the main fodder for horses, camels, and donkeys in North India. It is a perennial legume with yellowish brown, pear-shaped seeds. Popular varieties include Mescavi, Wardan, JB-1-3, UPB-103, and Fahl Saidi. Berseem is planted during the Rabi season from October to November at a seed rate of 20-23 kg/ha for broadcasting or 10-15 kg/ha for line sowing. The spacing is 25-30 cm x 10 cm. Green fodder yield is 35-55 tons/ha/year over 4-
