This document provides instructions for veterans to access and print out their own benefit summary letter through the eBenefits website. The 5-step process guides veterans to the Documents and Records page, where they can generate a letter listing their dates of service and any service-related conditions. This benefit summary letter provides proof of service that allows veterans to apply for several federal and state veterans benefits and programs.

1. Instructional Guide for Veteran(s):

Aftercompletingthisinstructional guide,youwillbe able toaccessand printout yourownbenefit
summaryletterfromanycomputerwithsecure internet access. Thisletterwill give yousufficientproof
to applyforseveral federal andstate veteran’sbenefitsandprograms.
Directions:
You will needtobe loggedintothe eBenefits website athttps://www.ebenefits.va.gov/. If are notable
to login youcan eithercontact eBenefits directlythroughthe helplinenumberlistedonthe website or
visityourlocal veteranservice office forassistance.
Step 1:
From the eBenefitsdashboard,hover
your mouse overthe manage button
whichissecondfromthe left. Select
“DocumentsandRecords” fromthe
drop downmenu.
Step 2:
Now youare on the DocumentsandRecordslaunchpage.
From here,clickonthe VA Lettersbox.

2. Step 3:
You are nowon the DownloadVA Letterspage. Onthispage clickon BenefitSummary - Veteran
Benefits. Itwill be the topoption
Step 4:
You are nowon a page that will give youoptions
aboutwhat youwouldlike includedonyour
benefitsummaryletter. Checkthe box nearthe
top of the page if youwouldlike yourdatesof
service includedinthe letter. Towardsthe
bottomof the page there isa seriesof boxesthat
include differentservicerelatedconditions.
Checkwhicheverof these boxesapplytoyour
situation. Whenyouare done,clickthe blue
buttonat the bottomof the page to generate
your letter.
Step 5:
You’re done!The systemwill have generateda summaryletter
that lookslike this(butwithoutthe personal information
blackedout). Thisletterwill giveyouaccesstoa hostof state
and federal benefits. If youwouldliketoknow more about
