Passive smoking, also known as secondhand smoke, occurs when non-smokers inhale smoke from a burning cigarette or other smoking device. Common areas where passive smoking can take place include homes, workplaces, bars, restaurants, and vehicles. Research has shown that passive smoking is even more dangerous than actively smoking, as non-smokers have no choice whether or not to inhale cigarette smoke in areas where others are smoking around them.
