2. IQS is a centenary university centre which was
founded in 1905. It was federated as a Founding
Member of the private Ramon Llull University in
1991, a non profit-making university providing
a public service and its aim is to offer quality in
training, person-centred, to meet society’s needs.
IQS is placed in Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia,
the second largest city in Spain in both size and
population. Barcelona is a Mediterranean city placed
in the southwest of Europe, not only because of its
geographic location but also because of its history,
tradition and cultural influences.
Mission & Values IQS
In conformity with the university mission, IQS makes an effort to teach its students to love their
work and to exert it seriously and rigorously and with initiative and creativity. The professional
activities undertaken by its graduates will therefore be oriented to a productive purpose for the
society and, in addition of a source of personal accomplishment, it will be a way to return the
society everything they have received from it.
Academic Background
IQS is composed of two Faculties: IQS Higher Technical School and IQS Faculty of Economics
and IQS Executive Programs Division.
All studies of IQS Faculty of Economics are accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business, USA).
The synergy between both Faculties gives a differential character to IQS.
The two Faculties of IQS have their studies adapted to EHEA (European Higher Education Area).
The ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) is the standard adopted by all European Higher
Education Area universities to guarantee compatibility and quality in higher education qualifications
and to facilitate the recognition of degrees and the mobility of students.
EHEA degrees (Bachelor’s Degrees) consist of 240 ECTS credits, which are equivalent to 60 credits by
year, minimum four years of university studies. The official title awarded upon completion of these
studies is that of “graduate”.
After having completed a Bachelor’s students can access other postgraduate studies Master’s (60-
120 ECTS) and Doctorate.
