This document outlines the schedule and goals for a 4-day Basic Emergency Care course. The course is designed to teach frontline healthcare providers how to systematically assess and manage acute life-threatening conditions with limited resources using the ABCDE approach. Over the 4 days, participants will receive lectures and have small group sessions on trauma, difficulty breathing, shock, and altered mental status. They will also complete skills training and be required to pass skills assessments and a final exam to receive a Certificate of Achievement. The overall goals are to ensure participants can identify and treat life-threatening conditions and know when to call for higher level care.
