This document summarizes an art therapy case study with a 10-year-old Mexican-American girl experiencing binge eating and family stressors. The girl sought therapy at her mother's request due to shyness, anxiety, body image issues, and eating issues including occasional binges. An initial art evaluation using drawing, painting, and sculpture provided insight into the girl's attitudes and comfort with different materials. Subsequent therapy sessions using client-centered and expressive art therapy approaches helped the girl build rapport, express feelings, and develop coping skills to manage overeating impulses and food-related stress through creating art.
